For the love of artists -- Evan Dent

Hello, and welcome to my blog. This is my first entry, and it may be seem weird, but I'm going to start this off by talking about another artist. In fact, I'll be posting a lot of other artists here, because I truly believe that when one artist succeeds, we all succeed. These will all be pieces from my own collection. Some are from friends, others are works I have purchased. I don't have a huge budget to buy art -- some of these have been acquired through bartering, begging and possibly even stealing -- but I love to support my fellow artists as much as I can.

First on the list is Evan Dent. Evan is a former co-worker of mine at the Albuquerque Museum. He is an imaginative huggy bear of a guy, who makes incredible cartoon-style masterpieces, along with spooky skull sculptures and glittery collage-type weirdness. His work has been included in several exhibitions and some of his cartoon work, which can be pretty spicy, has appeared in books. I own a few of his pieces. The one shown here is called "Our First Mistake." I wrangled it from him as a trade (tickets to a Muse concert). He let me choose between this painting and a funky "bunny skull." I later purchased the bunny skull, as well as a few other beauties. I apologize for the poor quality of my photo, but you can see a much better image on his website, (under the Rascals, Scoundrels and Sitch category). My bunny skull is there as well, under Skulls. I encourage you to check out all of his fabulous work.

That's it for now. Short and sweet. Please check back often. I'll share more of my collection, as well as my own works and thoughts about all things art related.

Love to all,
